ChatGPT: Your Amazon Business' Secret Weapon

Hello, data-driven Amazon business owners!

When it comes to operating a successful Amazon business, staying updated on changes relevant to your business is crucial. This is where Amazon's Selling Partner API (SP-API) comes into play, specifically, the Notifications API.

The Amazon SP-API Notifications API is an invaluable tool that lets you subscribe to notifications crucial to your business operations. This API allows you to create a destination to receive notifications, subscribe to various notifications, delete notification subscriptions, and more. Instead of continually checking for updates, your application can receive information directly from Amazon when an event triggers a notification to which you've subscribed.

However, it's worth noting that there are two separate workflows for receiving notifications, and the one you choose depends on the notification type that you wish to receive.

Amazon EventBridge Workflow

This workflow allows you to receive the following notification types:

  1. Branded Item Content Change: This notification is sent whenever there is a change to the title, description, bullet points, or images for any ASIN that the selling partner has a relationship with.
  2. Item Product Type Change: This notification is sent whenever there is a change to the product type name of any ASIN that the selling partner has a relationship with.
  3. Listings Item Status Change: This notification is sent whenever there is a listing status change including buyable transition, listing creation, or listing deletion for any SKU that the selling partner has.
  4. Listings Item Issues Change: This notification is sent whenever there is an issue change for any SKU that the selling partner has.
  5. Product Type Definitions Change: This notification is sent whenever there is a new Product Type or Product Type Version.

Amazon Simple Queue Service Workflow

This workflow allows you to receive the following notification types:

  1. Account Status Changed: This notification is sent whenever the account status changes for the developers subscribed selling partner/marketplace pairs.
  2. Any Offer Changed: This notification is sent whenever there is a change to any of the top 20 offers, by condition (new or used), or if the external price (the price from other retailers) changes for an item listed by the seller.
  3. B2B Any Offer Changed: This notification is sent whenever there is a change in any of the top 20 B2B offers, in the form of any price change (either a single unit or quantity discount tier prices) for an item listed by the seller.
  4. FBA Inventory Availability Changes: This notification is sent whenever there is a change in the Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) inventory quantities.
  5. FBA Outbound Shipment Status: This notification is sent whenever an Amazon shipment for a seller is created or canceled.
  6. Feed Processing Finished: This notification is invaluable for those using the Selling Partner API for Feeds. Whenever any feed you've submitted reaches a feed processing status of "DONE", "CANCELLED", or "FATAL", you'll receive a notification. This allows you to stay on top of your feed status and make necessary adjustments promptly.
  7. Fulfillment Order Status: Keeping track of your Multi-Channel Fulfillment orders is crucial in running a smooth operation. This notification is sent whenever there is a change in the status of such an order, providing you with real-time updates to manage and optimize your fulfillment process.
  8. MFN Order Status Change: The status of your Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN) orders is just as important. Whenever there is a change in the status of an MFN order, this notification ensures you're aware of it. Whether the order availability has changed, this is key to managing your inventory and ensuring the timely fulfillment of orders.
  9. Order Status Change: One of the most critical aspects of your Amazon business is order management. This notification is sent whenever there is a change in the status of new or existing order availability. Having these updates in real-time allows you to provide excellent customer service by staying informed about your orders' statuses.
  10. Pricing Health: Pricing can make or break your sales on Amazon. This notification is sent whenever a seller offer becomes ineligible to be the Featured Offer due to an uncompetitive price. This information is crucial to remaining competitive in the marketplace and optimizing your pricing strategy.
  11. Report Processing Finished: If you're using the Selling Partner API for Reports, this notification is crucial. It's sent whenever any report that you've requested reaches a report processing status of "DONE", "CANCELLED", or "FATAL". This enables you to stay on top of your reports and ensure that you're getting the data you need.
